Public Entities and Government

We provide effective representation and counsel to municipalities, political subdivisions and government agencies.

What We Do

For decades our firm has provided day-to-day legal advice and representation of Nebraska municipalities, political subdivisions and governmental bodies. Our attorneys presently serve as the city attorney to the cities of Ashland, Fairbury, Milford and Waverly, and we have served as special counsel to the Nebraska Legislature, Nebraska Brand Committee, Nebraska State Fair, Nebraska counties, municipalities and governmental bodies on employment and labor, economic development, environmental and litigation matters and conducting effective internal investigations. We understand parliamentary procedure and Nebraska's Open Meetings Act, allowing us to advise clients on proper procedure and how to run efficient public meetings without running afoul of Nebraska law. When it comes to the successful representation of governmental bodies, we find the way.

Staff

Brent Smoyer

Lobbyist

As Assistant Director of Government Relations, Brent advocates on behalf of clients at the Nebraska Legislature and state administrative bodies. He has forged solid relationships with Senators, officials in the Executive branch, and other government affairs specialists that enable him to work through political minefields to effectively advocate for our clients’ interests. Every day he meets with elected officials and their staff to help them understand not only our clients’ needs, but their businesses and the important role they play in Nebraska’s economy and communities. He reviews legislation, negotiates with other companies and interest groups, and assists Andy Pollock in developing strategies to advance policies that promote our clients’ interests.
