The climate conference included a half-day session on water budgets, which has been drawing interest as a way to better manage water resources. A frequent speaker at NU's annual Water Law Conference, David Bargen spoke at this year's event on current procedures for water use transfers and possible measures for improvement. His presentation materials are provided below.
David focuses his practice on water law, municipal law and litigation. Lobbyist and attorney Andy Pollock was a guest speaker at the September 13, 2011, luncheon meeting of the Lincoln Legal Professionals Association. The topic of his talk was “Wind Energy and the Law in Nebraska.” Andy spoke to the LLPA members about the different forms of energy and, specifically, wind energy. Since Nebraska is one of the windiest states, wind energy is a great natural resource for our state. Andy spoke about wind farms, how wind is harnessed and turned into electricity, how wind energy is transported, the costs involved in the transportation of wind, and what kinds of changes in the laws will be coming before our legislature in the near future. In addition, wind energy will create great economic opportunities for local businesses and landowners.
